Google Announces New Shopping Features to Help Small Businesses

Google Announced New Shopping Features that Facilitate Rapid Updating of Product Images Using Smart Technology and Provide Basic Store Information to Attract New Customers. Through the new Small Business Feature, merchants on the Google platform can easily categorize themselves, helping shoppers better identify small businesses. This new feature allows shoppers to easily identify small or local business activities, contributing to supporting these activities. Stores with this feature will be clearly displayed as small businesses on Google Maps and show their products with a small business tag in Google search results.

These updates include retailers in retail who use Merchant Center or Business Account. Google automatically applies the Small Business feature to some lists based on factors such as website traffic for the company, number of stores, and number of products offered. Retail sellers can remove this feature through Merchant Center or Business Account settings. It is also important that large businesses will not have the option to display the Small Business feature, with final decisions left to companies to determine their identity.

The company allows merchants and authorized persons to manage their accounts via Merchant Center or Business Account to enable this feature, and there has been no disclosure of protections to prevent misuse. Additionally, Google has expanded the display information shown on pages, such as the main headquarters location for retail stores and number of employees, and this information includes additional details such as reviews, shipping and return policies, customer service information, and promoted deals. This information is displayed alongside a snapshot of business activity information shared by merchants via Merchant Center accounts.

These updates are available to merchants in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, and Brazil. In addition, Google launched Product Studio, an AI-powered tool that allows merchants to easily edit and manage product images, such as removing backgrounds and increasing image quality.

Users can also create new backgrounds using the AI scene creation feature to improve product photography.
