Amazon Offers AI Classes for Free

Amazon launches new AI training initiative to equip 2 million people with job-relevant skills by 2025. Through its "AI Ready" program, the company is making eight free online courses available targeting a range of experience levels and career paths.

In addition to the general courses, AI Ready will offer over 50,000 high school and university students a dedicated course on generative AI. Amazon has also partnered with Code.org to incorporate generative AI education into their programming curriculum.

Whether just starting out or looking to advance your knowledge, Amazon believes there is a relevant AI Ready course for everyone. While the company hosts over 80 other AI courses on AWS, not all are free of charge.

The courses vary in duration, difficulty level, and subject matter, broadly covering different use cases. For instance, Amazon's "Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence" course would likely benefit those looking to develop basic knowledge of how generative AI works.

Developer and technical classes

For anyone interested in learning about the technical side of AI, Amazon has five classes to offer.

Foundations of Prompt Engineering: This class teaches you the basics of prompt engineering, which will build your skills with interacting with generative AI.

Low-Code Machine Learning on AWS: If you don't know much code (but have some basis), this class can show you how to build AI models without too much technical know-how.

Building Language Models on AWS: Amazon will teach you how to use SageMaker training libraries to build language models, which is the basis for generative AI.

Amazon Transcribe—Getting Started: This course teaches you how to use Amazon Transcribe, which converts speech to text.

Building Generative AI Applications Using Amazon Bedrock: You'll learn how to build generative AI apps using Amazon Bedrock.

Business and nontechnical AI classes

Amazon has three courses for those looking to learn AI skills for business, as well as other non-coding situations:

Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence: Essentially, Generative AI 101.

Generative AI Learning Plan for Decision Makers: This class is three courses, and teaches you have to plan a generative AI project and help your company become generative AI-ready.

Introduction to Amazon CodeWhisperer: Amazon will teach you how to use its AI code generator. (I would count this as a "technical" class, but I guess Amazon has a different standard.)
